114 residents have tragically lost their lives as a result of the forest fires in the state of Hawaii. Another 850 people are currently reported missing, according to Mayor Richard Bissen of Maui County, who shared the information on social media.
According to the regional leader, only 27 out of the 114 victims have been identified so far. Mayor Bissen referred to the information about the 850 missing individuals as positive. He stated that at the beginning of the search and rescue operation, the list contained over 2,000 people.
Earlier, it was reported that rescuers discovered 60 individuals on the island of Maui, who were previously listed as missing. All of them were found hiding in one house.
